Daft Punk - Random access memories

Postby nbktginger » Sat May 04, 2013 1:37 pm

Hi Guys,
Maybe you already know, maybe I am in a parallel world however I was not aware til today that Daft Punk would release a new album...
Out in May, but already the first single
Apologize if this is too obvious news to be shared, just sharing in case of...
Seems that preliminary reviews are quite promising anyhow.

ok, so not willing to spoil an Air forum on Daft Punk topics, but I am sure every person enjoying Air music should definitely try to hear Giorgio by Moroder on the new Daft Punk album.
To be honest this track is the strongest musical emotion I received sinceI heard Electronic Performers for the first time.

I haven't listened to RAM yet but it's truly amazing what two helmets and some autotune can do.
To be honest I got really sick of them back when "Around the World" was played to death.
IMHO they are not true musicians.
I'm going to say it: they're not a patch on Air.

it's your opinion, i am not here to advertise them anyhow :-) i did not like Human after all but must say i had enjoyed Discovery and RAM is far above those 2. True they hired some musicians as well as they are not so good musicans as Air is for sure.... In the same time to date for me the best Air record is still 10 000 Hz Legend in which they had also many musicans and collaboratos to work with them.

I don't think I remember an album ever being this hyped. I don't like nor dislike Daft Punk. I think some of their stuff is ok. I am shocked though at their mass appeal. It doesn't make any sense to me. Anyway, I listened to the streaming album and I thought it was ok. Some of it was pretty good in fact (to me). Nothing I can't live without, but I'll probably download it when it becomes more readily available and listen to it again. In reference to the aforementioned song, "Giorgio by Moroder", I thought it started out good, but when they came in with the real drums they ruined it and it just wore out it's welcome after awhile. Anyway, maybe after I listen to the album a second and possibly third time I'll come back with more thoughts.
