New Röyksopp..."Air-like"?

Postby Kjetil » Wed Jan 21, 2009 1:19 am

I've heard a lot of people say the new Röyksopp song sounds like a cross between their first single 'Eple' and Air. I'm not so sure...maybe to a small degree the vocals? Anyway, I do like the song. What do you guys think?:

I agree on the Eple-part, they used the same sound I guess, when I first heard this on the radio I just knew it was Röyksopp.
And some of the vocals do remind me of JB, but only because you told me

The newest Royksöpp album "Junior"is absolutely GREAT ... thanks for the hint!!
In fact I find it much better than the new Air CD, as an example.
Very interesting (classic) synth arrangements, violins ...
Also the vocals are much better arranged (in fact I start to dislike JBs whistle vocals), there are much more rhythm and offbeat arrangements and of course not really comparable to Air ... nevertheless all Air fans should dare a listening .... I would really like to see them live!
Thank god there's Air.

I can't say I like it :S
It's whisky, you see. Sometimes it makes you want to kill people. Sometimes to cuddle them. Often both in quick succession.

I do like a few of the songs to varying degrees. Notably "Tricky Tricky", "Royskopp Forever" and "Happy Up There". The outro for "Tricky Tricky" is very nice in particular and probably my favorite song of the bunch. Overall they ruin a lot of their songs cheesing them out too much for me. Could be worse though. It's no AIR though, that's for sure!

Here's the audio for "Tricky Tricky". The outro begins at 4:36.
