Pink Floyd

Air keep saying the don't like Pink Floyd, and that they never heard them (so how do they know they don't like them if they never heard them ???).

And it's simplist to compare Air to Pink Floyd, though the song CLOUDS UP really remind me ONE OF THESE DAYS (from the record MEDDLE).

I really love Pink Floyd because like Air it's a spacial music, it makes me trip. But Pink Floyd is a real rock band, with a lot of search (especially on the sounds and the rythm). I'm not saying that there is no search in Air music, but it was harder in the 60's-70's to create sound than nowadays. I mean, Pink Floyd was really inovative for the time. (And so is Air, but not in the same proportion...).

(I think you want to kill me).

I was wondering if you listen to Pink Floyd. Yesterday I was watching to the video shot in Pompéi and it's fucking beautiful and frightening.

My favorite LP's are MEDDLE and ATOM HEART MOTHER. Don't like the albums after THE WALL (and I don't like THE WALL even if I'm fascinated by the visual aspects).
How does it...

...make you...

...feel ?

Pink Floyd was just way ahead of their time. Songs like echoes and shine on ... will stand the test of time. I don't know what air thinks about Pink Floyd, but sometimes air reminds me of pink floyd (like the moog solo in La Femme and some chordsequences on The Virgin Suicides).

I'm not really a big fan of Pink Floyd but I do like some of their music and Air does sometimes remind of Pink Floyd.

I'm not so keen on Pink Floyd. However I quite like albums such as More or Obscured by clouds. My favourite track is "Careful with that axe, Eugene".

I love Pink Floyd, I've got 25 of their albums. Thats all, if not all of them apart from the compilations. Dave Gilmour & all the rest have gone off & done their individual careers. They performed for the Live 8 event in London a while ago, good to see them together again, if only just for a short time.
In a world of pollution, Its wonderful to have fresh AIR

that is funny because these albums are quite unlike the others, arent they.

i love both, and all the albums for that matter.

i believe the correlation between Obscured and Virgin Suicides is quite apparent.

and the connection between Premiers Symptomes's "Californie" and Floyd's Animals' "Dogs" is also apparent.

PinK Floyd rocks, and as u said, replaced int the 60/70s context, it was really innovative and exciting, which is hard to get nowadays with music.

I see another point of similitude : I think Air albums will really take value and maybe even improve through the years..

Love Pink Floyd, and saw them the last time they all were together (except Sid Barrett, of course) (?) was Roger Waters there(?) performing in the Bay Area during the 1994 "Division Bell" era. I got "gold circle" tickets, and could have sold them for five times the face value if I'd wanted to - but of course I didn't! Still have a few beautiful T-shirts left and a promo seat cushion from that magical event.

JB said they do know who Pink Floyd is, they do like them, but he didn't like it when they came out with the blues rock influences.
