The list can be long. I agree with UNIVERSE from Tellier... It's the kind of song, you feel good, it's nice, and suddenly (when the electric guitar came in strongly) the tears come...

From Air : SUICIDE UNDERGROUND (and the whole record...), JEANNE, CARAMEL PRISONER (and a lot of others...).

Moby : EVERLOVING of course.

EXIT MUSIC (FOR A FILM) - LUCKY - LIFE IN A GLASSHOUSE - Radiohead

The beginning of the third face of LIFT YR. SKINNY FISTS LIKE ANTENNAS TO HEAVEN from Godspeed You Black Emperor !, just when the old man is speaking about Coney Island beach on which no one sleep anymore...

The whole 33 minutes of the “song” MOTHERFUCKER = REDEEMER from Godspeed You ! Black Emperor.

I better stop now. I keep listening to sad music...

very very sad songs which came in to my mind are

- Yann Tiersen - Comptine D'Un Autre Eté : L'Après Midi
- Sigur Ros - svefn-g-englar (sorry Thibault)
- Vincent Gallo - WHEN and LAURA
- Air - Les Professionnels (for taking my breath at 3'16'')

and most of Air's music. The music is linked to happenings, feelings, moods... :(

I think "Je suis venu te dire que je m'en vais" is one of the sadest songs I know. Beautiful, but sad ...

AGREED...that is my favorite Serge Gainsbourg track.

My saddest songs? "Asleep" by the Smiths, "Atmosphere" by Joy Division...basically any depressing 1980s stuff.

Sebastian Tellier - Universe
Coldplay - We Never Change
Air - Empty House
Radiohead - Street Spirit

that would be my top five list
